The Duchossois foundation annual report
Annual Report. The Duchossois Family Foundation is a Chicago-based non-profit started in 1984. Their mission is broad - to enhance quality of life through wellness and economic opportunity. To date, they’ve given away more than $330 million in support of 740 partner organizations. They had a logo and boilerplate website, but this was their first annual report. So I started with a practically blank slate (the best kind, though a little daunting). I worked with the Chair and several Board members to create a look for the foundation that befitted their behind-the-scenes giving philosophy. Not too showy, with a focus on the organizations they support. Included should be: history of the organization, a few highlighted organizations, letters from the Chair and Head of the Board. Financials were not necessary since they are funded by an endowment. I suggested incorporating a timeline and quotes from each partner organization. I laid the report out in landscape orientation to enable the photos to be prominent and to fit the copy in a smaller footprint while still retaining enough white space to enhance readability (more columns accommodate a higher word count). I chose from hundreds of photos supplied by the foundation, partners and stock agencies, chose fonts and colors to complement their logo and an uncoated (stationery-like), substantial paper in cream to lend a timeless quality. See the result below.
